Argentina and particularly the Cordoba area, has for many years, been the premiere dove hunting area worldwide. The season for doves runs all year and there is no bag limit. It is very typical for a hunter to harvest over 500 dove in a day. Some hunters prefer to use two guns and a reloader to prevent barrel overheating, as they may go through 1,000 rounds in a morning and another 1,000 in the afternoon.
A typical day starts at around 6:30am with a hearty breakfast and the hunt begins somewhere around 8:00am. A break for lunch about 11:00 yields steak, chorizo sausage, ribs and tenderloin–(among other meats) a true meat lovers’ dream. Salad, vegetables, and bottles of wine make the meal complete. After a short rest you are back in the field for the afternoon hunt. It is estimated that in an appropriate spot or intersection of a good feeding area and a resting zone, over 1,000,000 (a million) doves go through it in just one hour. At the end of the day you are welcomed back to the lodge with drinks, followed by dinner.
Your hunt will be on 20,000 acres of land, where the most important and biggest roost in the region is located. This roost has a population of around 20,000,000 of doves.
